- Courtney B. Vance will be joining the cast of ABC's "Revenge" in the recurring role of Victoria's (Madeleine Stowe) new divorce lawyer. He's described as a take-charge attorney who is treating his cases pretty much as a war, which makes him not always likeable but very good at his job.
"Revenge" returns with new episodes on February 8.

- Christian Camargo ("Dexter") is set to guest star on a March episode of CBS' "The Good Wife". He will play a filmmaker who made a documentary on suicide, which may or may not have led to a young girl taking her life.

Grant Bowler Cast In SyFy's DEFIANCE As Lead

According to Deadline's Nellie Andreeva, Grant Bowler ("True Blood", "Ugly Betty") has joined the upcoming Syfy series "Defiance" as the lead.

The show, which was written and exec produced by Rockne S. O'Bannon ("Farscape"), is "set on a future Earth, Defiance introduces players and viewers to a world where humans and aliens live together on a planet ravaged by decades of war and transformed by alien terra-forming machines. It centers on Jeb Nolan (Bowler), the law-keeper in a bustling frontier boomtown that is one of the new world’s few oasis of civility and inclusion. Nolan is a former Marine who fought in the alien conflict and suffered the loss of his wife and child in the war. The trauma transformed him into a lone wanderer in the wilds of this new and dangerous world."

“Grant’s charismatic charm and his depth as an actor make him the perfect anchor as we build the ensemble for this sweeping adventure series,” Syfy’s president of original content Mark Stern said in a statement.

Production begins this April in Toronto.

SHERLOCK Renewed For Season Three

The BBC has ordered a third season of "Sherlock", according to Deadline's Nancy Tartaglione.

Lead actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are both expected to return. Hit the link above for a bit more info.

The second season, which just came to a close last Sunday in the UK, will be airing on PBS in the U.S. in May.

Per TVLine's Michael Ausiello, veteran actors Jeff Goldblum ("Law & Order: Criminal Intent", "Jurassic Park") and Brian Stokes Mitchell ("Frasier", "Ugly Betty") have signed on to FOX' "Glee".

The actors will play Hiram and LeRoy Berri, the gay dads of Rachel (Lea Michele). Their first appearance, which will include some singing as well, is scheduled for Valentine's Day, February 14.

AMC's THE KILLING Return Date - April Fools!

AMC has just officially announced the return date for the second season of "The Killing", of which creator Veena Sud promises that it will contain the identity of Rosie Larsen's killer, but only at the latest possible moment. Yeah, we believe it when we see it, right?

Especially now that AMC has set the ominous date of April 1 as the launch date for the sophomore season, which will open with a two-hour premiere (like the fifth season of "Mad Men" will, on March 25). If that would be a hint at things to come, or worse yet, not to come, then the show might just lose the rest of the viewers that actually decided to stick with the show after the lack of resolution at the end of the first season. I am one of them, as I thought that I'd go along with it, since there was never a promise of anything in season 1. But now there is, so better not make me regret giving it a chance...

AMC Gives THE WALKING DEAD An Even Longer Third Season

According to TVGuide, AMC has decided to have a bit more fun with zombies in the next season.

While it is already a well-known fact that the cable network has renewed "The Walking Dead" for a third season, it was not specified how many episodes the new season would consist of.

Many, myself included, expected a 13-episode order. But today, it has come to light that the third season would in fact be 16 episodes long.

"The Walking Dead" still has the rest of its second season to air. The final six episodes will start airing February 12.

What do you think? Will the three additional segments make for a better new season? Or would a shorter run be more beneficial?

TVLand Renews HOT IN CLEVELAND, Moves Forward With Spinoff

How about this for an early birthday present for Betty White?

Per the Hollywood Reporter, TVLand has picked up a fourth season of its successful comedy "Hot In Cleveland" for a fourth season.

The cable network is also moving forward with a spinoff of the show that will star Cedric The Entertainer. He will reprise his role of Reverend Boyce, which he originated on the 2011 "Cleveland" episode "Bridezelka".

“Cedric is hilarious and I’m so happy to do this show with him,” said "Cleveland" creator Suzanne Martin back in April. “We are going to have a lot of fun developing and exploring his role as a minister.”

Neither the upcoming fourth season of "Hot In Cleveland" nor the upcoming spinoff have an airdate yet.

ABC Pulls WORK IT From Schedule

According to the latest scheduling moves, ABC has pulled its critically butchered freshman comedy "Work It" from its lineup, at least for the rest of the month.

The cross-dressing comedy will be replaced by repeats of "Last Man Standing".

This of course opens up the possible, long-awaited return of "Cougar Town". But ABC entertainment president Paul Lee said at the TCA Winter Press Tour that they will give the show "a good launch pad", which of course might take more than two weeks of planning - hence the repeats first.

WAREHOUSE 13 To Get Extended Fourth Season

Per the Hollywood Reporter, Syfy will have much more "Warehouse 13" to offer this year.

The upcoming fourth season, which was picked up last fall for 13 episodes, has now been extended to 20 episodes.

The show is expected to return in the summer for the new season.

TCA: Showtime - Return Date For THE BIG C, THE BORGIAS, NURSE JACKIE Set

Before you ask, yesterday's CBS session was a bit of a drag in the news department, well, aside from the panel for "2 Broke Girls" that was apparently a real doozy, with critics and reporters grilling Michael Patrick King for the "raunchiness" of his show. You can read about that here, for instance.

Anyway, Showtime and The CW are having their TCA sessions today, and from the Showtime executive session comes the news that "The Big C", "The Borgias" and "Nurse Jackie" will all return to the Showtime lineup on April 9.

"Homeland" will return for its second season in the fall.

USA Renews PSYCH For Season 7

USA just announced that it has picked up its successful crime comedy "Psych" for a seventh season. This makes it the longest running show on USA.

"Psych" still has the remainder of season 6 to air. The show returns February 29 at 10/9c.

The news broke via a bunch of Twitter and Facebook puzzles from stars James Roday and Dulé Hill, which led to a video with them making the announcement.

The ABC executive session with Entertainment president Paul Lee has just concluded, and here's what's most interesting.

- Lee said that "Cougar Town" is set to return in March, with a specific return date coming in the next two weeks. "We're going to give it a really cool launch pad", Lee added.

- Lee also announced that "Private Practice" will move away from its Thursday slot in spring for four weeks, to Tuesdays at 10 PM, after the "Dancing With The Stars" results show, to see how the show performs when not airing behind "Grey's Anatomy".

- Speaking of "Grey's", Lee wouldn't comment on the ongoing contract negotiations with the main cast, but said that ""Grey's" came roaring back… I'm feeling really good about the show." Make of that whatever you will, most probably a renewal in May - with or without some of its stars.

- "Happy Endings" will have its season finale in April.

- Midseason show "Scandal" premiers April 5 at 10 PM, after "Grey's Anatomy", and new comedy "Don't Trust The B In Apartment 23" will launch on April 11 at 8.30 PM, behind "Modern Family".

- The fate of "General Hospital" remains in the air, as Lee said that a decision must be made at some point, but doesn't give any kind of timeframe for it.

- I know some of you won't like to hear it, but new comedy "Work It", according to Lee, landed "right in the middle of expectations", ratings-wise. Looks like it's not quite done yet.

- "Pan Am" is not quite out of chances. "We have new [episodes] that air through the end of February… It will be in contention [for renewal]", Lee said, according to TVLine.

After way more than a year off the air, "Mad Men" is finally gracing our TV screens again - very soon.

According to Deadline's Nellie Andreeva, the new, fifth season of the highly acclaimed AMC drama is set to debut March 25. AMC is expected to announce the premiere date officially at its portion of the TCA Winter Press Tour this week.

The news slipped early thanks to the blabbermouth that is Jon Hamm. The actor let the info slip during Friday's episode of Doug Benson's "Doug Loves Movies" podcast.

TCA: FOX - News On TERRA NOVA, HOUSE, FRINGE, GLEE, 24 Movie, More

Today is FOX' day at the TCA Winter Press Tour, and the network's entertainment president Kevin Reilly has taken the stage to answer the various questions of the reporters.

Here's what came out as important.

- Kiefer Sutherland has confirmed at the panel for his new series "Touch" that the "24" is still very much alive, and he is hopeful that production can start in April or May.
As for the story of the movie, it is said to be a pretty "direct continuation" from the events at series' end, with a time jump of maybe six months. As for who will be in it, aside from the obvious Jack Bauer, exec producer Howard Gordon would only confirm Chloe (Mary-Lynn Rajskub).

- The fate of "Terra Nova" has not yet been decided, but will be very soon. Reilly says it's a "high-class problem for FOX", and Reilly says that "there's a show to bring back, there's an audience there to access... We're going to decide very soon. (…) It's proven that it was worthwhile, it's one of the highest rated new shows of the season..." The sense at the moment is that a renewal is likely.

- Equally, the verdict is still out on the fate of "House". Reilly says there will definitely be no spinoff, and that they're "avoiding" the decision-making, since it's apparently hard to imagine FOX without "House". But if FOX does decide to bid "House" farewell, which is going to be "a close call", "it will not be an unceremonious finish."

- The reason FOX is so hesitant to decide on those two shows it the fact that the performances of midseason shows "Touch" and "Alcatraz" plays a factor. Reilly says he wants to have at least a bit of data from the new shows before he makes a decision.

- As for the fate of "Fringe", Reilly says that FOX is "not in the business of losing money". Doesn't sound too good, and executive producer Jeff Pinkner says that they do have an exit strategy. “Worst case scenario, if this were the last aired season of Fringe — and as we’ve said before, there are other outlets where we could continue our stories, be they graphic novels or webisodes — we know what the end of this season is going to be, and it can function as a series finale.”

- There will be no more new episodes of "Allen Gregory", which makes it officially canceled.

- Like with "House", there will be no "Glee" spinoff. But the characters are said to graduate.

TNT Orders THE GREAT ESCAPE To Series, TBS Picks Up MEN AT WORK

TNT has announced today that it is taking the plunge into the reality competition business.

The cable network has ordered "The Great Escape", a new reality format from executive producers Ron Howard ("A Beautiful Mind"), Brian Grazer ("24"), Francie Calfo ("Scoundrels"), Elise Doganieri ("The Amazing Race"), Bertram van Munster ("The Amazing Race"), Justin Hochberg and Charlie Ebersol.

Hosted by Rich Eisen ("NFL Total Access"), "The Great Escape" drops teams of ordinary people into the middle of their own epic action/adventure movie. Each week, three pairs of players will compete for a cash prize by escaping from such locations as a seven-story castle, a deserted island, a sinking ship or a maximum security prison. Players must use their wits, skills and whatever tools they can find to overcome obstacles, evade pursuers and make their way to freedom.

“"The Great Escape" is a fast-paced series with all the heart-pounding excitement and nail-biting suspense of a summer popcorn movie,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “This is exactly the kind of fun, smart, unscripted competition show we've been looking for to complement TNT's entertaining lineup of scripted dramas.”

TNT has ordered 10 episodes, to premier this summer.

Additionally, Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reports that TBS has ordered multicamera comedy "Men At Work" to series. The show, created by Breckin Meyer, explores bromance, sexcapades and office adventures of four buddies who work at a magazine. It centers on Milo (Danny Masterson), who finds comfort in his three best friends (James Lesure, Michael Cassidy and Adam Busch). They help reinvent his manhood after being dumped by his girlfriend while navigating their own personal and professional lives.

TCA: COMMUNITY Is NOT Canceled, But No Return Date Yet; THE VOICE Returns February 5

More from the NBC exec session of the current TCA Winter Press Tour.

Per NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt, comedy "Community", which was conspicuously missing from the Peacock's midseason schedule, has definitely not been canceled.

“When I announced our midseason changes last fall and took Community off the schedule, I failed to explicitly say that it would be back,” he explained. “I want to expel any notion that it is just disappearing off the schedule.”

But, when exactly will it return? Greenblatt wouldn't confirm a specific date at this point.

“Community was moved to 8 o’clock a couple of years ago, and that’s an incredibly competitive time slot now on Thursday. I’m really curious to see what something else will do there. We have a really tight schedule with comedies, [that's why it's] really going to be a matter of looking at what happens with the six comedies we’ve got at midseason.”

Greenblatt was, however, more specific about another NBC show, the very successful singing competition "The Voice", toplined by Christina Aguilera.
The second season will be kicking of right after the SuperBowl, on February 5, and will then run for 15 weeks.

Harry Connick Jr. To LAW & ORDER: SVU, Nikki DeLoach To RINGER

This just in from the NBC executive session of the TCA Winter Press Tour.

NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt has announced that Harry Connick Jr. will be joining the cast of "Law & Order: SVU" for a four-episode arc.

The actor/singer is playing a new love interest for Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson.

And speaking of Hargitay, the actress has confirmed that she won't be leaving the show anytime soon.

In additional casting news, Nikki DeLoach ("Awkward", "Windfall") has booked a guest spot on The CW's freshman drama "Ringer". She is set to play Shaylene, a stripper who got murdered, and of which untimely death Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar) was a witness of. De Loach will appear in flashbacks.

FAIRLY LEGAL, IN PLAIN SIGHT Move To Fridays, Both Return March 16

Per Variety, USA has revised its schedule, thereby moving its veteran drama "In Plain Sight", which will have its final season this year, and "Fairly Legal", which is starting its sophomore season, to Fridays.

Both shows will return on March 16 for their new seasons. The move is made to accomodate USA's larger lineup of original content, which now needs to be spread across the week more.

Josh Stamberg Meets CASTLE, Michael B. Jordan Pays A Visit To HOUSE

First, Josh Stamberg ("Drop Dead Diva") has joined the cast of ABC's "Castle" for this season's two-parter which will air during February Sweeps.

Spoiler Alert!

In the episodes, Jennifer Beals ("Lie To Me", "Chicago Code") guest stars as a "smart, commanding and sexy CIA agent who helps Castle and Beckett search for a fellow operative who has gone rogue".

Stamberg guests in both episodes as “an intelligence officer that ends up being very important to the case,” creator Andrew W. Marlowe has told TVLine.

Additionally, former "Friday Night Lights" and "Parenthood" alum Michael B. Jordan has booked a one-episode guest spot on "House" over at FOX.

In the show's 14th episode, he will play a blind patient.

Jordan broke the news on Twitter, but had to retract his tweet shortly after, presumably because he was jumping the gun with the announcement. It got replaced with “Now I know never to tweet before the studio approves hahha.”

Cybill Shepherd Goes To THE CLIENT LIST, Kim Kardashian To LAST MAN STANDING

Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reports that Cybill Shepherd has signed on for her first series regular TV role in over a decade.

Shepherd is set to co-star alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt in "The Client List", the upcoming drama series based on the 2010 TV movie of the same name, which starred Hewitt as Riley, a deserted wive and mother who starts working at a massage parlor. ION Picks Up Season Five Of FLASHPOINT, Two Pilot Casting News

ION has announced officially today that it has picked up the fifth season of Canadian cop show "Flashpoint", which was already renewed for a fifth season back home, for US territories.

Production on the new episodes will begin in February. Canadian broadcaster CTV has ordered a fifth season of the drama last June. Interestingly, CTV ordered 18 episodes, while ION has only picked up 13 episodes for the fifth season, according to their press release.…

And off to the slowly beginning pilot casting season.

Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reports today that James Murray ("Chaos") and Patrick Heusinger ("Royal Pains") have been added as regulars to NBC's sci-fi pilot "Beautiful People".
It's about a world where humans and androids co-exist, but the androids, who look like people, are treated as second-class citizens. At the center is Lydia, whose late husband is the founder of the firm that makes Mechanicals.
Murray plays her son, an attorney who lives a privileged lives but makes the case for the Mechanicals to have civil rights - a mission that is frowned upon. Heusinger plays a Mechanical working as a servant in Lydia's home. When his daughter dies in an accident, he gets labeled as defective, because he develops emotions like loss and grief. Stephen Hopkins is set to direct.

Per TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, the canceled and then resurrected FOX series "Breaking In" will have some familiar regular faces, a new one, and an absence that just might hurt.

Christian Slater (Oz) is of course set to return, as are series regulars Bret Harrison (Cameron) and Alphonso McAuley (Cash).

Megan Mullally will join the show as a new regular, playing OZ' boss.

Meanwhile, Odette Annable won't be a series regular anymore, but the actress, who has joined the cast of "House" when the show was briefly canceled, is set to reprise her role as sultry Melanie in multiple episodes.
As for Michael Rosenbaum, and this is the "hurt" part, is not set to return to "Breaking In" for the moment, because of a film commitment. But if his schedule permits, he might guest star on the show later in the new season, which kicks off March 6 at 8.30/7.30c PM.

The cable network has decided to cancel its sophomore series "Hung" and "How To Make It In America", as well as "Bored to Death", this after three seasons.

Better news, however, are in for fans of the Laura Dern freshman comedy "Enlightened". HBO has ordered a second season, to debut next year, it has announced today.

Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill To Leave DOCTOR WHO Next Season

On a news conference for the upcoming "Doctor Who" Chrismas special, current showrunner Steven Moffat announced that Amy's and Rory's days with the Doctor are numbered.

According to the UK Mirror, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will be leaving the show during the course of the next season. Moffat said the following at the conference:

"The Ponds will be rejoining us next series. But the final days of the Ponds are coming, I am not telling you when and and I won’t say how. But that story is going to come to a heartbreaking end.”

Moffat was not giving more details, but said that there's a new companion on the horizon for the Time Lord.

“And then the Doctor is going to meet a new friend and I am not going to tell you about he, she or it.”

Matt Smith added about Amy's looming departure:

“We have had the most incredible journey and we had to hold hands at first when we joined. It is very disappointing but this show is about change. It is always about looking forward.”

CBS Tweaks Midseason Schedule, Sets Return Date For THE AMAZING RACE

CBS has announced a revised midseason schedule today, which will affect the Eye's Friday and Sunday lineups come February.

CBS will premiere the new season of "Undercover Boss" on Sunday, January 15, at 8 PM. After three episodes, the show will relocate to Fridays at 8 PM on February 17. "A Gifted Man" will be moved back an hour to 9 PM on Fridays as of this day, which will leave "CSI: NY" without a time slot for six weeks.

On March 30, after "A Gifted Man" has completed its freshman run, "CSI: NY" returns with the rest of its current season in the Friday 9 PM slot.

And on Sunday, February 19, CBS premieres the new, 20th cycle of "The Amazing Race" at 8 PM.

Here's the new schedule with all the changes.

ABC Cancels EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION

Per the Hollywood Reporter, ABC has canceled its long-running reality series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" after nine seasons.

The final episode, which will be the show's 200th segment, will air on January 5. On January 20, "Shark Tank" will take over the time slot.

But that's not really the last you've seen of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition". ABC plans to air four specials of the show after its run as a weekly series has been concluded.

Chris Meloni Joins TRUE BLOOD As Regular, William Devane Seeks REVENGE

Per TVLine's Michael Ausiello, Chris Meloni ("Law & Order: SVU") has officially joined the upcoming fifth season of HBO's vampire series "True Blood" as a new series regular.

Meloni plays “an ancient, powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill and Eric in his hands.”

"True Blood" returns with 12 new episodes next summer.

And according to EW's Tanner Stransky, William Devane ("Knots Landing", "24") has come aboard ABC's "Revenge" in the role of Edward Grayson, Conrad's father. He comes to the Hamptons at the call of Victoria (Madeleine Stowe), to help her in her divorce battle against her husband.

"Revenge" returns January 4.

According to various sources, Lifetime has decided not to go forward with a second season of its female cop drama "Against The Wall", thereby canceling it.

The show starring Rachael Carpani opened to 1.8 million viewers in July.

Additionally, The CW is doing some rescheduling to launch its latest reality format "Remodeled", which has a direct effect on the midseason return dates of "90210" and freshman series "Ringer". The former gets a one-week delay, while fans of "Ringer" will have to wait three weeks longer to see a new episode.

In a five-episode arc, Thurman plays “a famous and somewhat difficult movie star who flirts with the idea of starring in ‘Marilyn,’ the show’s musical within the musical.”

ABC Pulls MAN UP, USA Moves COMMON LAW To Summer

Per several sources, ABC has pulled its struggling comedy "Man Up" from the schedule, replacing it with repeats of "Last Man Standing" for the time being. Five episodes remain unaired, which the network might burn off over next summer.

Additionally, USA has decided not to premiere its newest series "Common Law" on January 26, as it was previously announced. The show, which stars Michael Ealy Warren Kole, Jack McGee and Sonya Walger, will now premiere next summer, where USA thinks it will get a bigger audience.
"Common Law" centers on two cops who have been long-time partners. Their relationship is starting to become harder to maintain, so their captain sends them to couples therapy.

Per EW's James Hibberd, Chris Zylka, who plays recent Chance Harbor returnee and witch hunter Jake on The CW's freshman drama "The Secret Cirlce", has been promoted to the status of series regular.

On to some other casting news, from TVLine. Beware, some spoilers below:

- Ellen Barkin has joined ABC's hit comedy series "Modern Family" in the potentially recurring role of Vera, a very successful real estate broker who ends up at odds with Phil (Ty Burrell).

- Mark Pellegrino ("Supernatural", "Lost") has come aboard another ABC show, "Castle", more specifically, the upcoming film-noir episode which is partially set in the 1940s. He will play Tom Dempsey, a ruthless club owner in 1947 who targets a private detective and his best girl (which Rick Castle imagines himself and Beckett as). Of course, there's also a connection to a present-day murder in there. The episode airs during February sweeps.

- Kathy Griffin ("Suddenly Susan") has booked a guest spot on NBC comedy "Whitney", where she'll play a co-worker of Roxanne (Rhea Seehorn).

- Robin Givens has landed a guest role on ABC's comedy "Suburgatory", where she will play a long-time foe of Dallas (Cheryl Hines).

- Cameron Mathison ("All My Children") has been added to another ABC series, "Desperate Housewives". He is set to play Bree's latest lover for one episode. Guess how well that one will go… Find out for sure in March.

FOX Moves BONES Midseason Finale To Lead Into THE FINDER

FOX has announced in a press release that it has moved "The Crack in the Code", the sixth episode of the current season of "Bones", from its original December 15 airdate to January 12 at 8 PM ET/PT.

The episode now serves as the lead-in to the premiere episode of "The Finder" at 9 PM, which wil take over the "Bones" time slot until the show returns in the spring.

On December 15, FOX will now air an encore of the backdoor pilot episode of "Bones" that introduced the audience to Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults) and his crew.

ABC Family Renews PRETTY LITTLE LIARS For Third Season

ABC Grounds PAN AM - But Not For Good

Several sources are reporting today that ABC has made a decision about the imminent future of its freshman drama "Pan Am".

The show, which launched to a promising start but has since lost a lot of its momentum in the ratings, will produce one additional episode beyond its initial 13-episode order. That's only one of the five additional scripts that were ordered a few weeks back that will be produced.

After that, "Pan Am" will make way for ABC's midseason drama "GCB" aka "Good Christian Belles". But this won't mean that the show is actually canceled, as the network keeps it in contention for next season.

The news originated after a tweet from series star Karine Vanasse.

"Well, we received THE call, #PanAm is only coming back for one more episode after Christmas. But up to the end, we'll give it our all !"

FX Sets Midseason Schedule - JUSTIFIED Returns January 17, ARCHER Back January 19

FX has just announced its midseason schedule, and with it come the return dates of several original series.

The third season of "Justified" will launch on Tuesday, January 17, at 10 PM ET/PT

"Archer" also premiers its third season, which will happen two days later, on Thursday, January 19, at 10 PM ET/PT. And a half hour later, new animated comedy "Unsupervised" makes it's debut, at 10.30 PM ET/PT.

Here's the log line for "Unsupervised", including its voice cast.

Unsupervised is a comedy about optimistic best friends "Gary" and "Joel" navigating the harsh landscape of teenage life and trying to do what's right without any parental guidance whatsoever. The series was created by and is executive produced by Rob Rosell, Scott Marder and David Hornsby, all who currently serve as writer/producers on FX's hit comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It features an outstanding voice cast including Justin Long, Kristen Bell, Fred Armisen, Romany Malco, Kaitlin Olson and Alexa Vega, along with Rosell and Hornsby.

NBC Gives Full Season Order To GRIMM

NBC has announced that it has picked up its freshman drama "Grimm" for a full season.

The back nine order lifts the show's episode count for its first season to 22.

“We are very pleased to be making a full-season commitment for Grimm,” said NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt in a statement. “This series is turning the traditional procedural drama on its head and is attracting a loyal following for us on Friday nights. We love where it’s going creatively and we’re excited to deliver more episodes to our audience.”

NBC is also trying to get "Grimm" a little more exposure by airing a new episode on Thursday, December 8 at 10 PM.

ABC Cuts Down Order For COUGAR TOWN

Per EW's James Hibberd reports, and it has been confirmed by my own reliable source, that ABC has decided to cut down the order of its upcoming third season of "Cougar Town" - whenever than will actually launch.

The show, which has been suspiciously missing from ABC's midseason lineup last week, will only air 15 episodes when it eventually returns, down 7 from its initial 22-episode order.

But while this sounds rather unpleasant, don't write off the show just yet. Insiders say ABC is just adjusting its needs for the season. If the ratings for those 15 episodes are satisfying, the network would be very inclined to renew the comedy series.

Elisabeth Shue Joins CSI To Replace Marg Helgenberger

CBS has just announced in a press release that Marg Helgenberger will definitely be leaving "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" pretty soon - and be replaced by none other than Oscar-nominated actress Elisabeth Shue.

Shue will join the veteran procedural in the episode airing February 15 as a new CSI coming fresh off an anger management course, and amid rumors that she was once fired by D.B. Russell (Ted Danson) back in Seattle.

“While it’s difficult to say goodbye to a beloved character like Catherine Willows, it’s exciting to start a journey with a new CSI, especially when that character is played by Elisabeth Shue,” said executive producer Carol Mendelsohn. “The new CSI also struggles with ‘brutal honesty issues’ and suffers no fools.”

“Elisabeth’s character will share a past, in another crime lab, with Ted Danson’s character (D.B. Russell),” said executive producer Don McGill. “The first time things didn’t go so well between the two of them. Maybe the second time’s the charm, or not.”

Helgenberger will mike her final appearance (at least as a regular) in January.

Showtime has just announced in a press release that it has ordered two more seasons of its very successful drama "Dexter".

Production on season seven will begin next year. Both new season will consist of 12 episodes.

"DEXTER's enormous success is a real tribute to the great achievements of its cast, producers, and the powerhouse performance of Michael C. Hall," said Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins in a statement. "The series is bigger than it's ever been in its sixth season, both in terms of audience and its impact on the cultural landscape. Together with Michael, the creative team on the show has a very clear sense of where they intend to take the show over the next two seasons and, as a huge fan, I'm excited to watch the story of Dexter Morgan play out."

CBS has announced today that it has ordered two more cycles of its successful reality competition series "Survivor".

This puts the show through the 2012-2013 season. Jeff Probst will stay on as host and executive producer.

The show's next edition starts Wednesday, February 15.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced that Ricky Gervais, despite his controversial stint this year, will be back to host the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

It will be his third year hosting the festivities.

"The association voted overwhelmingly for the controversial British comedian’s return and NBC’s senior vice president of special events and late night programming, Doug Vaughan, said: “Ricky is delighted to be coming back. He said the Golden Globes show is the most fun he has ever had.”"

The 69th Golden Globes will be broadcast worldwide on January 15.

Meanwhile, Comedy Central has announced that it has ordered an additional three seasons of its long-running animated series "South Park". This brings the show, which began its successful run back in 1997 at least to season 20.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone will continue to write, direct and edit every episode.

- CBS has ordered three additional episodes of its Friday freshman drama "A Gifted Man". This brings the season's current episode total to 16.

- NBC has ordered two additional scripts of "Grimm". NBC Shakes Up Schedule For Midseason

NBC has announced its midseason schedule, and has made quite the few moves after a rather unsatisfying fall season.

Special note deserves struggling freshman drama "Prime Suspect", which is not featured in the Peacock's midseason lineup. But the network insists that a final decision on the show's fate has yet to be made.

"Harry's Law", which was only renewed for 13 episodes back in May, is most probably getting a full season, as it will continue in the new year. Same goes for new drama "Grimm". A back order there is a foregone conclusion as well.

The premiere date for new drama "Awake", as well as a return date for "Community" has yet to be announced.

Per EW's Lynette Rice, "Twilight" star Ashley Greene has booked a three-episode stint on ABC's "Pan Am". Starting on episode 9, which airs December 4, Greene plays a debutante with a past connection to Ted (Michael Mosley).

Additionally, TVLine's Michael Ausiello reports today that Salli Richardson-Whitfield ("Eureka") has boarded FOX' "Bones" spinoff "The Finder" for the same February episode that also features rapper 50 Cent.
50 plays Big Glade, a music mogul who tries to track down the lost tracks of a deceased rap artist on his label. Richardson-Whitfield plays his lawyer.

Brian Grazer has been brought in as Ratner's replacement, and from the looks of it, he didn't really have to look far for a new host.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced today that after Brett Ratner resigned (for well-known reasons) as a producer of the Oscars 2012 telecast, host Eddie Murphy has followed suit.

The comedian has decided not to host the next Oscar after his creative partner has exited, the press release reads.

Commented Murphy, "First and foremost I want to say that I completely understand and support each party's decision with regard to a change of producers for this year's Academy Awards ceremony. I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I'm sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job."

Academy president Tom Sherak said, "I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner, Brett Ratner, and we all wish him well."

The search for a replacement for both Ratner and Murphy is underway.

FX Extends Fourth Season OF SONS OF ANARCHY

Looks like Charlie Sheen has found a new steady TV gig.

FX has acquired his new half-hour sitcom "Anger Manangement", the network has announced in a press release. The story loosely follows that of the 2003 feature film of the same name, which starred Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson. 10 episodes have been ordered, for an airdate in the summer of 2012, with Bruce Helford ("George Lopez", "The Drew Carey Show") being tapped as exec producer/showrunner.

"We think that Bruce Helford, Joe Roth and Charlie Sheen have come up with a wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlie's acting talents - and a character we are very much looking forward to seeing him play," said John Landgraf, President and General Manager, FX Networks. "Two and a Half Men has been an outstanding component of FX's schedule for the past 14 months, and we have every confidence that Anger Management will soon be as well."

If the 10 episodes are a success, FX will order 90 additional episodes under a special syndication agreement. The show airs exclusively on FX, and will start airing off-network episodes in the fall of 2014.

ABC Keeps Canceled CHARLIE'S ANGELS For November Sweeps

ABC has just announced its November Sweeps highlights, and one thing is standing out to me.

The Alphabet is keeping its canceled freshman drama "Charlie's Angels" in its Thursday at 8 PM time slot November 3 and November 10.

Even though this seems a bit of a strange move, it at least allows for some more of the produced episodes to make it to the air. And who knows, maybe the ratings will be stellar now? Yeah, right, not!

Anyway, AMC has just announced that it has picked up a third season of its successful zombie drama "The Walking Dead".

The renewal comes after shattering records with his huge performance for the season 2 premiere.

"Today we are pleased to announce that the 'dead' shall live as we proudly renew 'The Walking Dead' for a third season on AMC and, globally, with our terrific partners at Fox International Channels," said Charlie Collier, AMC's President. The CW has officially picked up its freshman drama "Ringer" for a full season, several sources report.

The show starring Sarah Michelle Gellar opened to 2.1 Million viewers and a 1.6 demo rating - the network's largest Tuesday at 9 PM audience in three years.

In its subsequent episodes, the show averaged around 2.1 Million viewers and a 1.0 rating in the key 18-49 demo. In the 18-34 demo, which is the key demo for The CW, "Ringer" managed to get a 0.9 rating, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

HBO has just announced via a press release that it has renewed its Emmy-winning period drama "Boardwalk Empire" for a third season.

12 new episodes will be airing in 2012.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, NBC has given the order for six additional scripts of its legal drama "Harry's Law".

The show was picked up for a second season in May, but only for 13 episodes. And the ratings were nothing big to talk about so far, averaging a 1.2 demo rating in its Wednesday at 9 PM time slot.

But a 33% gain from live + 3 days numbers, which factors in DVR viewing now gave NBC enough reason to at least take a look where the show might be headed plot-wise in a back nine order.

The script order is by no means a guarantee for a pickup, but of course brings the show quite a step closer.

Syfy has announced today in a press release that it has set a premiere date for the upcoming second season of its US remake of British TV series "Being Human".

The new season, which consists of 13 episodes, will premiere on Monday, January 16, at 9 PM ET/PT.

On the same night, Syfy will start airing Canadian acquisition "Lost Girl". The series, which airs on ShowCase in Canada, starts with a 13-episode first season at 10 PM ET/PT. The second season, containing 22 episodes, is currently airing on ShowCase.

ONCE UPON A TIME… Emma Caulfield Gets Cast

According to TVLine's Megan Masters, another "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum has found a new TV home - at least for one episode.

Emma Caulfield, who played the demonic Anya on the late, great vampire drama, and has also been seen on "Life Unexpected", will appear in the ninth episode of ABC's new fairy-tale-inspired drama "Once Upon A Time" in a guest spot.

Caulfield will play another demonic entity, the blind witch from 'Hansel & Gretel', who is described as "incredibly scary and frightening".

"Once Upon A Time" premiers on Sunday, October 23, at 8/7c on ABC.

FOX Benches NEW GIRL Until November 1

Due to various upcoming events, FOX has decided to put its "New Girl" on a mini-hiatus.

New scheduling updates released by the network show that the freshman comedy, which was the first to get a full season order of all the new fall series, has been shelved for the next three weeks. Blame Major League Baseball, the World Series and longer installments of "X-Factor".

The next episode of "New Girl" will air no earlier than November 1.

FOX has announced that after the contract dispute with the voice cast has been settled, the network has now renewed its long-running animated comedy "The Simpsons" for two more seasons.

The show is currently airing its 23rd season, which will return with a special Halloween episode, "Treehouse of Horrors XXII" on Sunday October 30. With the official pickup of seasons 24 and 25, "The Simpsons" is now officially the longest-running comedy on TV, with having 559 episodes produced by the end of season 25.

And Variety's Stuart Levine has just tweeted that HBO will launch new episodes of "Game of Thrones" in April, which coincides with the launch date of the first season, which debuted April 17.

I know I've neglected casting news lately due to having very little time, but here's one I just have to share.

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, former "Charlie's Angel" Cheryl Ladd has been cast for a guest spot on the upcoming fifth and final season of NBC's "Chuck".

She will play Sarah's (Yvonne Strahovski) mother, with whom she shares a complicated past.

Chuck returns for its final 13 episodes on October 28.

Additionally, SBNation reports that Madonna has been tapped to perform during next year's SuperBowl Halftime Show. The NFL has yet to confirm this report.

SuperBowl XLVI will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5.
