NBC Announces COMMUNITY Return Date, Premiere Dates For Several Shows

Hello Folks

Finally, some news from me again. I'm at a place in my life at the moment when this has become a bit less important for me. But if something big happens, I still feel that urge… :)

Anyways, NBC has finally announced a return date for the third season of "Community".

The comedy returns on March 15 at 8 PM ET. To make room, the Peacock moves "30 Rock" to 8.30 PM, and is followed by "The Office" at 9 PM. At 9.30 PM, it's time for "Up All Night". ("Parks and Recreation" will return on April 19 at 9.30 PM for the rest of its fourth season, once "Up All Night" has wrapped its run.)

Additionally, NBC is premiering "Bent" on March 21 at 9 PM ET with back-to-back episodes for three weeks. "Rock Center" moves to 10 PM for five weeks, and reclaims the 9 PM spot on April 11.

"Bent" is a romantic comedy about a womanizing, surfer dude contractor and his beautiful, no-nonsense, type-A client, who work together to remodel each other's lives as they renovate her Venice, California home. The recently divorced Alex (Amanda Peet, "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip") is a high-strung lawyer who is raising her young daughter, Charlie (Joey King, "Ramona and Beezus") as a single mom. She downsizes into a smaller house and hires charismatic Pete (David Walton, "Perfect Couples"), a free-spirited ladies' man and recovering gambling addict who desperately needs this gig with Alex to jumpstart his life -- and prove that he is no longer a screw-up. Margo Harshman and Jeffrey Tambor co-star.

And after "Whitney" and "Are You There Chelsea?" have aired its finales, NBC will premiere two more shows. "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" will launch on April 4 at 8 PM, with another new comedy, "Best Friends Forever" premiering right after, at 8.30 PM.

"Best Friends Forever," from executive producer Scot Armstrong ("Old School," "Hangover 2"), is a new comedy about old friends, new beginnings and awkward situations. Jessica St. Clair ("Bridesmaids") and Lennon Parham ("Accidentally on Purpose") star as Jessica and Lennon, best friends who live on opposite sides of the country with the men in their lives. When Jessica is served divorce papers, Lennon convinces her to return home to Brooklyn and back into the apartment they used to share. Soon, the girls fall into old habits: movie marathons and late-night, girl-talk sessions -- none of which is good news for Lennon's live-in boyfriend, Joe (Luka Jones, Upright Citizens Brigade). Stephen Schneider ("Happy Endings") and Daija Owens also star.

HOUSE Will End Its Run In May

FOX has just issued a lengthy press release announcing that after eight years, the end is coming for "House" - in May.

Here it is:

After much deliberation, the producers of House M.D. have decided that this season of the show, the 8th, should be the last.  By April this year they will have completed 177 episodes, which is about 175 more than anyone expected back in 2004.

The decision to end the show now, or ever, is a painful one, as it risks putting asunder hundreds of close friendships that have developed over the last eight years - but also because the show itself has been a source of great pride to everyone involved.

Since it began, House has aspired to offer a coherent and satisfying world in which everlasting human questions of ethics and emotion, logic and truth, could be examined, played out, and occasionally answered.  This sounds like fancy talk, but it really isn’t.  House has, in its time, intrigued audiences around the world in vast numbers, and has shown that there is a strong appetite for television drama that relies on more than prettiness or gun play.

But now that time is drawing to a close.  The producers have always imagined House as an enigmatic creature;  he should never be the last one to leave the party.  How much better to disappear before the music stops, while there is still some promise and mystique in the air.

The producers can never sufficiently express their gratitude to the hundreds of dedicated artists and technicians who have given so generously of their energy and talent to make House the show it has been - and perhaps will continue to be for some time, on one cable network or another.

The makers of House would also like to thank Fox Broadcasting and Universal Television for supporting the show with patience, imagination and large quantities of good taste.  The Studio-As-Evil-Adversary is one of the many clichés that House has managed to avoid, and for that the cast and crew are deeply grateful.

Lastly, the audience:  some have come and some have gone, obviously.  This is to be expected in the life of any show.  But over the course of the last eight years, the producers of House have felt immensely honored to be the subject of such close attention by an intelligent, discriminating, humane and thoughtful - not to mention numerous - audience.  Even the show's detractors have been flattering in their way.  Making the show has felt like a lively and passionate discussion about as many different subjects as could possibly be raised in 177 hours.  The devotion and generosity of our viewers has been marvelous to behold.

So, finally, everyone at House will bid farewell to the audience and to each other with more than a few tears, but also with a deep feeling of gratitude for the grand adventure they have been privileged to enjoy for the last eight years.  If the show lives on somewhere, with somebody, as a fond memory, then that is a precious feat, of which we will always be proud.

Everybody Lies.

STATEMENT FROM KEVIN REILLY, PRESIDENT, ENTERTAINMENT, FOX BROADCASTING COMPANY:
While it’s with much regret, and a lump in our throats, we respect the decision Hugh, David and Katie have made.  A true original, on the page and amazingly brought to life by Hugh Laurie, there is only one Dr. House.  For eight seasons, the entire HOUSE team has given us – and fans around the world – some of the most compelling characters and affecting stories ever seen on television.  They have been creatively tenacious and collaborative throughout this incredible run, and they are amongst the most superior talents in the business.  For all the above, we wholeheartedly thank them, and the fans who have supported the show.

FX Renews SONS OF ANARCHY Again… For Sixth Season

After renewing its successful drama "Sons of Anarchy" for a fifth season last fall, FX has today announced that it has officially picked up a sixth season as well, per the Hollywood Reporter.

The order for a sixth season, to air in the 2013-2014 TV season, stems from the newly reached deal between the cable network and "Sons" creator and showrunner Kurt Sutter, which keeps him aboard through a seventh season, which is considered very likely now, and possibly the final season.

NBC Moves THE FIRM To Saturdays, Premieres AWAKE On March 1

Hello Folks

NBC announced today in a press release that it has banished the struggling new drama "The Firm" to Saturdays at 9 PM as of February 11, which is when the next episode will air. It's vacant Thursday 10 PM slot will be filled with reruns of "Grimm" during February sweeps.

On Thursday, March 1, the Peacock will premier its midseason drama "Awake" starring Jason Isaacs.
Here's the outline from the release:

From executive producers Kyle Killen ("Lone Star") and Howard Gordon ("Homeland," "24"), "Awake" is an intriguing drama about Detective Michael Britten (Isaacs) who finds he's living two parallel lives. He's involved in a car accident that seems to have killed both his son (Dylan Minnette, "Saving Grace") and wife (Laura Allen, "Terriers"), yet his mind creates an ingenious coping mechanism in which he now lives two separate lives - one where his wife survived and the other where his son did.

Trying to regain some normalcy, Michael returns to solving crimes in both worlds with the help of two different partners, Detective Isaiah "Bird" Freeman (Steve Harris, "The Practice") and Detective Efrem Vega (Wilmer Valderrama, "That '70s Show"). Michael is assigned a different case in each reality and quickly discovers that his dual existence is actually a powerful tool. He begins to solve impossible cases by using his two realities to gain unique perspectives and link clues that cross over from world to world.

Helping Michael to navigate his two realities are his bureau-assigned therapists Dr. Evans (Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones, "24") and Dr. Lee (BD Wong, NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"). While both therapists work to untangle his two worlds, Michael has no interest in proving either one is false. But when memories of the accident begin to haunt him, he is forced to confront the truth about what really happened the night of the crash.

Kevin Bacon Cast in FOX Serial Killer Pilot, ARMY WIVES Return Date Set

According to Deadline's Nellie Andreeva, Kevin Bacon is coming to primetime TV.

The veteran actor has been cast in the lead of FOX' serial killer drama pilot from Kevin Williamson.

The story centers on a diabolical serial killer who creates a serial killer cult by using technology, and the retired FBI profiler (Bacon) who finds himself in the middle of it all.

Bacon, in a twist, has only committed to 15 instead of the usual 22 episodes a normal season contains. This is all part of FOX exploring new ways of airing shows, which entertainment president Kevin Riley explained a few weeks back at the TCA Winter Press Tour.

Marcos Siega ("The Vampire Diaries") has been tapped to direct the pilot.

Additionally, per TVLine's Meg Masters, Lifetime has picked Sunday, March 4 at 9/8c for the premiere of the potentially bigger sixth season of "Army Wives". The premiere will lead into the cable channel's new docu-series "Coming Home".
