Per Deadline's Nellie Andreeva, the cast of Syfy's upcoming new series "Defiance" has just gotten bigger by two.
Mia Kirshner and Fionnula Flanagan have been added to the series that tells of a transformed earth in the near future, with the inhabitants being survivors of an universal war. It focuses on Jeb Nolan (Grant Bowler), the law-keeper in Defiance, a frontier boomtown that is one of the new world’s few oases of civility and inclusion.
Kirshner will play Kenya, a town madam whose deep roots into the town have her involved in all kinds of affairs, and Flanagan plays Nicky, the former mayor of Defiance, whose popularity and expertise are of great help to the town's new leader, Amanda (Julie Benz).
Production on the pilot begins this month in Toronto. Rockne S. O’Bannon, Kevin Murphy and Michael Taylor are writing and exec producing.
