TCA: AMC Sets HELL ON WHEELS Date, HBO Announces Return Dates; More

Hello Folks

Well, it's that time of the year again.

The TCA Summer Press Tour 2011 has begun, and yesterday, it was the day for cable networks AMC and HBO.

Here's what's interesting (among the usual boring other stuff not worth mentioning) from the AMC and HBO panels, gathered from all over the place.

- AMC has announced the premiere date for its new western drama "Hell on Wheels". The new series will debut on Sunday, November 6, at 10 PM ET/PT. Anson Mount, Common, Dominique McElligott, Colm Meaney, Ben Esler, Philip Burke and Eddie Spears star.

- A decision on a possible renewal of hit series "Breaking Bad" has to be made in the next two weeks, as the options on the actors are about to expire. Means, renew it ASAP!

- After much backlash from the fans, the AMC brass admits that it should have "managed expectations differently" regarding the first season of "The Killing". Season 2 will present Rosie Larsen's killer. Based on the comments of many viewers, it just might be a bit too late…

- HBO will bring back "Boardwalk Empire" for its second season on Sunday, September 25, at 9 PM ET/PT for its 12-episode second season. "Hung" will return for season 3 of 10 episodes on Sunday, October 2 at 10 PM ET/PT, with "How To Make It In America" offering the premiere of its 8-episode second season right after, at 10.30 PM ET/PT. Season 3 of "Bored TO Death", with eight episodes, premiers on Monday, October 10 at 9 PM ET/PT, and new series "Enlightened", starring Laura Dern as a woman who has a spiritual awakening after a meltdown, is launching right behind it, at 10.30 PM ET/PT. The first season consists of eight episodes.

- There won't be a new season of "Nr. 1 Ladies Detective Agency", but HBO is looking to continue the format in the form of two or more stand-alone TV movies. Producers are looking at scripts at the moment. If only someone had done this for "Veronica Mars"…

- Don't expect to see an end to "Game of Thrones" in the near future. “We told [author George R.R. Martin] we’d go as long as he keeps writing,” said HBO co-president Richard Plepler to Entertainment Weekly. And HBO programming chief Michael Lombardo seconded, “I hope it lasts for 20 years. I promise you we won’t stop it before it’s ready to stop … There’s a great relationship fans have with the show and we appreciate that. We’ve never seen people get so excited about casting [decisions].” We'll take you up on that, Michael. See you in 2031…

- If exec producer/creator Mark Wahlberg has anything to say, an "Entourage" movie is pretty much a sure thing. Even if he has to pay the bills himself. “I’ve said that if I have to finance it myself, I’ll do it,” he said with a grin. “I certainly hope that this has a chance to become a feature film.” Added co/creator Doug Ellin, “We’re gonna do a movie. It’s just a question of when and how quick… and then we’ll make it happen.” We'll take you up on that, Mark and Doug. See you in 20… well, a lot sooner than 31 hopefully…

Full WONDER WOMAN Pilot Leaked Online

As of yesterday, the full pilot of NBC's redo of "Wonder Woman" has found its way online.

It has appeared on various download sites. Fan reviews might start piling up pretty soon…

I won't provide a link here, though, for obvious reasons. But I'm sure you can find it easily if you want.

Glen Mazzara Tapped As New Showrunner For THE WALKING DEAD

Well, that was fast.

Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reports today that executive producer Glen Mazzara is taking over from Frank Darabont as new show runner on AMC's "The Walking Dead".

Darabont was quoted a month ago by Deadline, saying that Mazzara was hired as "[the] number 2 in the room", and was considered the show's head writer back then. So it makes sense that he is now appointed new showrunner.

Talks with Darabont to stay on the show in some capacity are still ongoing. Mazzara remains an exec producer on the show, alongside Robert Kirkman (who penned the comic series) and Gale Anne Hurd.

Max Martini To Exact REVENGE, Rex Lee To SUBURGATORY, Plus Pilot News

TVLine's Michael Ausiello reports today that Max Martini ("The Unit", "Castle") is joining the cast of ABC's upcoming new drama "Revenge".

The show stars Emily VanCamp as a young woman moving to the Hamptons to exact revenge on the Grayson clan that ruined her family. Martini plays the recurring part of pragmatic, rugged Private Eye Frank Saunders, who gets hired by Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny), the wealthy patriarch of the Grayson clan.

"Revenge" launches on September 21 at 10/9c on ABC.

Additionally, Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reports that Rex Lee ("Entourage") has come aboard "Suburgatory", ABC's upcoming single-camera comedy about teen girl Tessa (Jane Levy), who moves with her dad (Jeremy Sisto) from New York to her own personal purgatory - the suburbs. Lee plays the series regular role of Mr. Wolf, the guidance counselor at the high school Tessa attends. He's inviting but pretty clueless when it comes to knowing about the "mean girl" behavior at his school.

And some developments on the pilot front, also from Nellie Andreeva.

USA has passed on its pilot "Eden", which was about a young hotel worker (Nick D'Agosto) who gets a job at a prestigious NYC hotel with the help of his cousin (Enver Gjokai), who is an escaped con man. USA's other two pilots still in contention, "Over/Under" and "Wild Card" are set to shoot in late August.

And over at TNT, two pilots have officially been scrapped. "Meet Jane", starring Molly Parker and Rick Schroeder in the story about a mother of two daughters who lives in an unhappy marriage. Things get interesting once the FBI enlists her to spy on her husband, who works as a computer technician and is suspected by the government to sell top-secret information to the Russians.
Also not going forward is the untitled Michael Sardo project, which was set to star Carrie-Anne Moss.

Mike Doyle, Rhys Choiro To A GIFTED MAN, Melissa George To Stephen King's BAG OF BONES

Even more casting news.

- Mike Doyle ("Law & Order: SVU") and Rhys Coiro ("Entourage") have both joined the cast of CBS's upcoming medical drama "A Gifted Man", TVLine's Michael Ausiello reports. Doyle will play Dr. Victor Lantz, a potentially recurring part, while Coiro plays the recurring role of Dr. Zeke Barnes, a family doctor who moonlights as a rock musician. "A Gifted Man", starring Patrick Wilson as a egomanical, brilliant surgeon who gets advise by his dead wife from the afterlife, premieres September 23.

- Melissa George ("Alias", "Lie To Me") has joined the cast of TNT's upcoming two-part, four-hour miniseries "Bag of Bones", based on the novel by Stephen King, per [Deadline. She joins a cast that includes Pierce Brosnan and Annabeth Gish. The story centers on writer Mike Noonan (Brosnan), who can't stop grieving over the sudden death of his wife, Jo (Gish). After a dream, he returns to the couple's lakeside retreat in Western Maine, and gets sucked into a nasty custody battle between the daughter of a young widow (George) and her wealthy grandfather. And all those ever-growing nightmares and the ghostly appearances let him realize his wife still has something to tell him. Mick Garris directs.

Odette Annable Joins HOUSE; Greg Grunberg, Lindsay Sloane Sign On For Special PSYCH

Two casting items from TVLine's Michael Ausiello.

- Odette Annable (formerly Yustman) ("Brothers & Sisters") has joined the cast of FOX' "House" as a new series regular for the upcoming eighth season. Her character is kept under wraps, but is suspected to be a jailhouse doctor that Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) adds to his team after the deaparture of both Martha (Amber Tamblyn) and Thirteen (Olivia Wilde, who will return only for a short while).

The search for whoever will play the new Dean of Medicine at Princeton-Plainsboro after the departure of Lisa Edelstein, is still ongoing.

- Greg Grunberg ("Heroes", "Love Bites") and Lindsay Sloane ("Weeds", "Grosse Pointe") have both joined an upcoming episode of USA's "Psych" - and its not your average episode. The segment, which will air in the midst of the sixth season, taks aim at the reality dating game, like "The Bachelorette", for example. Grunberg plays Dimitri, exec producer of dating format "Missed Connections", whom Shawn (James Roday) believes he has attacked one of the contestants. Sloane plays Melinda, the coveted single girl who the several men try to win over. "Psych" returns for season six in October.

Kaley Cuoco To Host TEEN CHOICE, Karen Gillan Back For DOCTOR WHO Season 7

FOX has announced via a press release that "The Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco will be hosting this years "Teen Choice", which will air live on August 7, from 8-10 PM ET (PT tape-delayed). OneRepublic and Selena Gomez and The Scene are set to perform, with appearances scheduled from Justin Bieber, Cameron Diaz, Chris Hemsworth, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Victoria Justice, Ed Helms, Lucy Hale, Shaun White, Rose Byrne, Paul Wesley, Tom Felton, Kat Graham, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Shane West.

Additionally, at Comic-Con, actress Karen Gillan has told Zap2It that, after speculation that she might be leaving "Doctor Who" after this year, she will in fact be returning for the upcoming 7th season (or season 33, if you count from the very beginning) as the trusted, red-haired companion Amy Pond. No word yet on whether Arthur Darvill, who plays Amy's husband Rory on the show, will be sticking around as well.

THE WALKING DEAD Shocker: Showrunner Frank Darabont Steps Down

Hello Folks

Well, after Frank Darabont's Comic-Con appearance, we certainly didn't see this one coming...

Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reports that Darabont is stepping down as showrunner for AMC's zombie drama "The Walking Dead".

Word is that Darabont is completely leaving the show, which is currently in production for its second season. But there are apparently still talks happening to keep him on the show in some way, maybe as a consultant.

This is a surprising move because Darabont was just present at a Comcic-Con panel last Friday, and seemed "excited" about the new season.

The reason for this move is not clear, but speculation is that Darabont "never quite adjusted to the daily grind of producing a TV series".

The search for a replacement is underway.

TNT Renews FRANKLIN & BASH For Season Two

Hello Folks

TNT has announced today that it has renewed its freshman legal drama "Franklin & Bash" for a second season.

The show starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer will return with 10 new episodes next summer.

“This summer, Franklin & Bash has broken out as a hugely entertaining series with great characters, sharp writing and a terrific cast,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming, for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies, in a statement. “We’re thrilled that the show has drawn such a remarkably strong following and look forward to bringing it back next summer.”

John Goodman Heads To COMMUNITY, Monica Raymund Among BLUE BLOODS

Two casting updates from TVLine.

- John Goodman ("Damages", "Roseanne") has booked a recurring arc of at least six episodes on NBC's "Community". He will play Vice Dean Laybourne, the head of Greendale’s air conditioning repair school, and he will become a major adversary for Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) and the study group. Goodman first appears in the season 3 premiere on September 22 at 8/7c PM.

- Monica Raymund ("Lie To Me") has joined CBS' police drama "Blue Bloods" for multiple episodes, playing Leah Sosa, the new partner of Jamie Reagan (Will Estes). James Franco Returns To GENERAL HOSPITAL

TV Guide's Michael Logan reports today that James Franco has signed on to return to his TV roots.

The actor will be back on duty for "General Hospital" by September 20 for a "longterm" arc, as an ABC rep says. This means that Franco could be haning around way into the fall, and possibly even longer.

As for his return as artist/serial killer Robert "Franco" Frank, here's the gist of it.

[Franco] has a hopelessly mad crush on beefy hit man Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) so the timing of his return to Port Charles is no coincidence — he'll be hitting town just as Jason is all set to wed Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco). Will Franco stop the ceremony or turn it into an unforgettable nightmare? The ABC rep will only say that this is the baddie's "most twisted plan yet" and that he'll likely be pulling other characters into his web, including ditzy heroine Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and bitch queen Carly Jacks (Laura Wright) and her baby Josslyn.

NFL Owners And Players Agree To New Deal To End Lockout

- Santiago Cabrera reunites with his "Heroes" co-star Sendhil Ramamurthy for an upcoming episode of "Covert Affairs", the latter actor has announced at Comic-Con. No word yet on who he'll play, but it will lead to "some shenanigans" between his character and Annie Walker (Piper Perabo).

Robert Wagner Drops Out Of CHARLIE'S ANGELS - Who Will Voice Charlie Now?

Hello Folks

Well, look's like one half of this new show's title is missing as of now. The Angels have lost their Charlie.

Per TV Guide's William Keck, Robert Wagner has dropped out of voicing the iconic over-the-phone character in ABC's upcoming "Charlie's Angles" re-launch due to scheduling conflicts, ABC has informed the magazine in a statement.

"Due to his scheduling conflicts, Robert Wagner will need to step away from his duties as Charlie on Charlie's Angels." Wagner's voice wasn't used in the pilot that got sent out to the media. A temporary solution was used there.

The search for a replacement is currently underway.

NBC Cancels LOVE BITES

Well, not that it's a surprise, really.

After pulling the last episode of the first season off the schedule, no one really believed that NBC would bring back its often-delayed freshman comedy "Love Bites" back for more.

But no we have confirmation. The Hollywood Reporter reports today that NBC has officially confirmed that the show is canceled. The last episode will air this Thursday at 10 PM, with one episode being left unaired. No word yet on how and if the episode will become available at some point.

The actor will instead move to its new series regular gig on "Awake", NBC's new midseason drama about Detective Michael Britten (Jason Isaacs) who, after a car accident, wakes up from a coma in two different realities. Wong plays Dr. Lee, Michaels therapist in one of the realities.

Syfy Renews MERLIN, TNT Cancels MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE

Hello Folks

Good news and bad news, all in one…

Syfy has ordered a fourth season of "Merlin", per TV Guide's Michael Schneider. The third season saw a ratings rise, which led Syfy to pick up the show for another go-round, to air in 2012.

On the other hand TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich reports today that TNT has officially canceled its dramedy "Men of a Certain Age" after two seasons.

The cable network issued the following statement to TVLine: "TNT has been proud to be a part of Men of a Certain Age for two seasons. While the show has featured great storytelling and impeccable performances, the audience simply hasn’t built to the point where we can continue the series. This was an extremely difficult decision for us. We wish Ray Romano, [series creator] Mike Royce and the terrific cast and crew … the very best and look forward to exploring new programming possibilities in the future."

The move is not surprising, as the show averaged a mere 0.4 demo rating, and barely 1.8 million viewers.

Familiar Face Returns To ONE TREE HILL - To Stay; Jewel Staite Encounters The SUPERNATURAL

Per TVLine's Megan Masters, you haven't seen the last of bad boy musician Chris Keller on "One Tree Hill" - not by a long shot.

Its portrayer, Tyler Hilton, has signed on to reprise his role on the veteran CW/The WB drama - get this - as a series regular. His first appearance is set for the season premiere in midseason.

Details on the character's return are kept under wraps.

And then a news item that I simply forgot to post because I was lying in bed with a nasty cold.

Various sources report that "Firefly" alumna Jewel Staite will guest star on "Supernatural" next season. The actress, who also appeared on "Stargate: Atlantis", will be seen in the third episode playing a childhood friend of Sam's who once saved him, but then grew up living a normal (read: demon-free) life.

But of course, demons don't stay away forever when Sam reunites with her, leading to several flashbacks into Sam's younger years. Colin Ford will be returning to play young Sam. Jensen Ackles directs the episode, which is currently shooting in Vancouver.

GLEE To Lose Three Cast Members After Third Season

"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy spoke to the Hollywood Reporter, and delivered quite the shocking news.

Regular cast members Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Corey Monteith will not be returning to the FOX hit show for the fourth season - at all.

The reason: Their characters are among the students graduating in the upcoming third season, Murphy says.

"You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year.”

Murphy goes on to say that planning for the future once high school is over will be one of the overall themes for season three. Who will be graduating will be revealed in the third season premiere, airing September 20.

“We’ve never done anything by the book. We made that decision and I involved Chris and Lea and they thought that was a good idea. They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top.”

Murphy acknowledged that he has not yet discussed graduation plans with Monteith, but expects Finn to be among the ones graduating. “He knows he was a sophomore when the show started.”

Penny Johnson Jerald Joins CASTLE, Kal Penn To Recur On HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

Two casting updates from TVLine's Michael Ausiello.

She will play the series regular role of Captain Victoria Gates, a former IA investigator who ends up filling the void left by Captain Roy Montgomery (Ruben Santiago-Hudson), who died in the last season finale. Her nickname: "Iron Gates"… no wonder she'll but heads with Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) pretty soon.

- After he ends his stint in the Obama administration later this month, Kal Penn ("House") returns to series TV in a major recurring part on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother". According to sources, he will play Kevin, a new love interest for Robin (Cobie Smulders).

Rebecca Mader To ALPHAS, David Andrews To COVERT AFFAIRS, Rick Malambri Joins THE LYING GAME

Some casting news, from TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich and Megan Masters.

- Rebecca Mader ("Lost", "No Ordinary Family") has booked a guest spot on Syfy fresh-out-of-the-gate series "Alphas". In one of the first 10 episodes, she will play a mysterious Alpha with an ability that "has to be seen to be believed", as the reporters put it.

- David Andrews ("JAG") will show up in the summer season finale of "Covert Affairs", as a State Department figure that gets into Joan's (Kari Matchett) business over a defection attempt that gets complicated.

- Rick Malambri ("Step Up 3D") has been added to the cast of ABC Family's upcoming teen show "The Lying Game". The show centers on identical twin sisters (both played by Alexandra Chando), that get re-united, but after the two swap lives for a day, one disappears. Malambri will play Eduardo, a sexy choreographer at Scottsdale's Royal Ballet Studio. He will get involved with one of the girls on the show, but it's unclear whether it's Mads (Alice Greczyn) or Char (Kristen Prout).

MTV Renews TEEN WOLF For Season 2

MTV has announced that it has ordered a second season of "Teen Wolf".

"“I’m coming back for Season 8 with a tan and a busted [surf]board", Spencer tweeted the happy news.

ABC Renews ROOKIE BLUE For Third Season

ABC has announced today via a press release that it has handed out a third season renewal for its summer cop drama "Rookie Blue".

The show, in collaboration with Canada's Global TV, will begin production later this summer for the new episodes. No airdate has been given, but the show is expected to return in the summer of 2012.

Larisa Oleynik Returns To HAWAII FIVE-O As Recurring; Mark Valley Joins HARRY'S LAW, Jean Smart To Guest Star

Every time I posted any kind of casting news about CBS' sophomore crime drama "Hawaii Five-O", one question was bound to pop up countless times in my mailbox. What about Larisa Oleynik?

Well, we finally have the answer, thanks to TV Guide.

Oleynik will indeed be returning to "Hawaii Five-O", but her appearances as CIA analyst Jenna Kaye will be on a recurring basis, mostly when the focus is on the Wo Fat case.

The former "Secret World of Alex Mack" star had the option to become a series regular for the second season, but producers apparently opted for an entirely new face to add to the regular cast, which led to the addition of Lauren German.

In other casting news, former "Human Target" lead Mark Valley has been added to the regular cast of "Harry's Law", TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich reports.

Valley will play Oliver Richard, a new attorney at Harry Korn's firm.

Additionally, Jean Smart ("24", "Hawaii Five-O") has been tapped to guest star on the first three episodes playing the D.A. prosecuting the murder trial featuring guest star Alfred Molina as the accused of murdering his wife.

Ted Danson Replaces Laurence Fishburne on CSI

CBS has announced today that "CSI" has found its replacement for the departing Laurence Fishburne.

Ted Danson ("Damages", "Bored To Death") will join the veteran crime drama this fall as a new series regular, when the show moves to its new timeslot of Wednesdays at 10 PM.

Danson plays the new CSI grave shift supervisor after heading the crime lab in Portland, Oregon. He comes  into the team as they still grapple with the professional and personal fallout of the Nate Haskell case.

You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it's just words," said Executive Producer Carol Mendelsohn.  "We're very excited Ted Danson came along."

"From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn't be more perfect," said Executive Producer Don McGill.  "Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all.  And now he'll have to bring latex gloves, too."

Danson will remain a series regular on HBO's "Bored To Death".

TNT Picks Up DALLAS To Series, Sets Launch Date, Offers Sneak Preview

TNT has just announced that it has handed out a series order for the reboot of "Dallas".

10 episodes of the relaunched iconic TV drama are set to premier in the summer of 2012.

But you can get a first glimpse of how the new "Dallas" will look like next Monday, during the season premieres of "The Closer" and "Rizzoli & Isles".

All the info is right below.

TNT has given the greenlight to DALLAS, an all-new series based upon one of the most popular television dramas of all time, about the bitter rivalries and family power struggles within a Texas oil and cattle-ranching dynasty. Famous for its ratings-grabbing cliffhangers, the original series was known for its wealth, seduction, scandal and intrigues. Set in the big state of Texas, TNT’s new DALLAS — from Warner Horizon Television — also lives life large and in the fast lane and  brings a new generation of stars together with cast members from the original drama series. The new DALLAS stars Josh Henderson (90210), Jesse Metcalfe (John Tucker Must Die), Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious), Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars) and Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives), and they will be joined by iconic stars Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman as J.R. Ewing. TNT has ordered 10 episodes of DALLAS, which is slated to premiere in summer 2012.

TNT will give viewers their first look at DALLAS on Monday with a special sneak peek during the season premieres of the network’s blockbuster hits THE CLOSER, which starts at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), and RIZZOLI & ISLES, which airs at 10 p.m. (ET/PT). TNT is unveiling today a website dedicated to the new DALLAS series, where fans can view an online photo gallery that features a first look into the show’s new and returning cast.  Fans can visit the new site, http://www.dallastnt.com, to watch sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes videos. The website will be periodically updated with new materials.

“TNT has explored the possibility of an updated version of DALLAS for several years, but it wasn’t until we read Cynthia Cidre’s outstanding pilot script that we knew we had the foundation for a great new series,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “It is incredibly exciting to see both new and familiar characters in the hands of a dream cast under the guidance of the enormously talented Cidre and Mike Robin. We couldn’t be more pleased with how DALLAS has come together.”

Together, we are a big family that keeps going, and I’m looking forward to working alongside these wonderful people as we ensure that the shows will continue with all the love and excitement we’ve always had.  I also am so happy for our loyal fans, whom we love so much, and who have been so supportive over the last 40 plus years.”

James Spader Officially Joins THE OFFICE

NBC has announced via a press release that James Spader has now officially joined the cast of "The Office" as CEO Robert California of Sabre, the parent company of Dunder Mifflin.

Below is the full press release.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - July 6, 2011 -- Multiple Emmy Award winner James Spader ("Boston Legal," "The Practice") will be joining the regular cast of NBC's "The Office" (Thursdays, 9-9:30 p.m. ET) as CEO Robert California of Sabre, the parent company of Dunder Mifflin.

"James will reprise his role as Robert California, this uber-salesman that has a power to convince and manipulate, like a high-class weirdo Jedi warrior," said Paul Lieberstein, one of the series' executive producers and a series regular. "He'll have been hired over the summer as the new manager, but within hours, got himself promoted. Within days, he took over the company. James has an energy that is completely his own, and 'The Office' has no tools for dealing with this guy. We're thrilled he's joining our cast."

Some of Spader's credits include: Steven Soderbergh's "sex, lies and videotape," which won him the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival; David Croenenberg's "Crash," which won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes; and Steven Shainberg's "Secretary," which won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Feature. His other film credits include "2 Days in the Valley," "Wolf," and "Less Than Zero." Spader will be shooting Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks feature "Lincoln" later this year while he is shooting "The Office."

From 2004-08, Spader won three Emmy awards for his seminal role as shameless attorney Alan Shore in "The Practice" and "Boston Legal," making him the only actor to win consecutive Emmys playing the same character on two different series. He is represented at ICM and Melanie Cook.

From Deedle-Dee Productions, Reveille and Universal Media Studios comes the award-winning comedy series "The Office," the hilarious documentary-style look into the humorous and sometimes poignant foolishness that plagues the world of 9-to-5 in the half-hour comedy based on the award-winning BBC hit. A fly-on-the-wall "docu-reality" parody about modern American office life, "The Office" delves into the lives of the workers at Dunder Miffflin, a paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Pam Beesly Halpert (Jenna Fischer, "Walk Hard," "Blades of Glory") is the former office receptionist now office administrator. Pam's office romance with sales rep Jim Halpert (John Krasinski, "Away We Go" "It's Complicated") quickly evolved into marriage followed by the birth of their daughter Cecilia. Jim shares his working space with Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson, "The Rocker,") the arrogant assistant to the regional manager whose responsibilities have expanded as the new owner of the office building. Ryan Howard (B.J. Novak, "Inglorious Basterds") is the young, smart, former temp, whose fall from grace as a Dunder Mifflin executive quickly landed him back at the bottom of the food chain in Scranton. Andy Bernard (Ed Helms, "The Hangover") is the preppy salesman and die-hard Cornell alumni whose endless and unique musical talents keep the office entertained. A surprising relationship has also formed between Andy and the ambitious distribution coordinator Darryl Philbin (Craig Robinson, "Hot Tub Time Machine"), who moved his office from the warehouse to the main floor alongside Michael and his staff.

Also starring are Leslie David Baker ("Malcolm in the Middle"), Brian Baumgartner ("Arrested Development"), Kate Flannery ("The Heir Apparent"), Mindy Kaling ("No Strings Attached"), Angela Kinsey ("Furry Vengeance"), Paul Lieberstein (writer, "King of the Hill"), Oscar Nuñez ("The Proposal"), Phyllis Smith ("Bad Teacher"), Creed Bratton (former member of The Grass Roots), Ellie Kemper ("Bridesmaids") and Zach Woods ("The Other Guys").

- Jason Priestley and Tony Hale will be guest starring on USA's "Psych", EW's James Hibberd is reporting. They both appear in the same episode - Priestley as a con man on a Harley who targets the spa Shwan (James Roday) and Juliet (Maggie Lawson) are staying in for the weekend, Hale as the owner of an import/export business.

Midseason Status Report - BREAKING IN Still Alive, SMOTHERED, EXIT STRATEGY Dead; More

June 30 is the date when pickup options for actors on TV pilots not yet ordered to series in May usually expire. That means that as of this point, based on pickups and pass-overs, we can take a look at how the chances of those pilots, and even the occasional canceled show, are in terms of continuation - which is what Deadline's Nellie Andreeva did.

- FOX' canceled Christian Slater drama "Breaking In" was canceled last May - but don't write it off just yet. FOX has extended the options on the show's actors until November 15, which means, "Breaking In" might come back in midseason after all.

- On the FOX pilot front, comedies "Little In Common" and "Family Album" are still in the run for midseason - probably in a two-hour, four-show Tuesday comedy block. Both shows are currently getting reworked.

"Little In Common" is about three diverse middle-class families who become involved with each other through their kids' Little League sports activities. Paula Marshall and Lombardo Boyar have departed, as their options were not picked up. One of the kids is gone as well. Alannah Ubach, who played Boyar's wife, will be single in the reworked version, while Marshalll's and the kid's characters will be recast.

"Family Album", about Dave Bronsky (Mike O’Malley) who, after a breakthrough experience during a family vacation, wows to “bond the crap out of his family”, will undergo some changes as well. O'Malley, Rachael Harris, who plays his wife, and Rob Huebel, who plays Dave's brother, have had their options picked up. Another pilot has been ordered.

- Another family comedy pilot, ABC's "Smothered", is now officially dead. It starred Marcia Gay Harden, Julie White, Adam Arkin and John C. McGinley.

- Better news for CBS' untitled Peter Knight workplace comedy pilot,  The options on all the principal actors have been picked up. Another pilot, the untitled Rob Schneider sitcom, is alive as well. Another pilot has been ordered, as well as backup scripts.

- On the drama front, the FOX pilot "Exit Strategy" is now officially dead. Tweaking was considered, but didn't promise the desired results, so the producers decided to focus on new development.

David Hasselhoff Meets SONS OF ANARCHY, Kristina Apgar Moves To 90210

Hello Folks

Per TV Guide's William Keck, the "Sons of Anarchy" are about to get their own personal lifeguard… who might just have been dropping his red trunks for business.

David Hasselhoff has signed on to appear in an October episode of the FX drama, playing - now brace yourself - Dondo, a former pornstar who now is making money by directing sleazy girl-on-girl adult films. He has been given a career boost courtesy of Luanne (Dendrie Taylor), and now gets involved in some dirty work in her memory.

No wonder Keck calls it "a meaty role"…

Additionally, per the Hollywood Reporter, Kristina Apgar ("Privileged") is joining the cast of "90210" for the upcoming fourth season, playing the recurring part of Jane, a mysterious, 21-year old widow from Alaska, a quiet beauty torn by guilt, who ends up as a love interest for Liam (Matt Lanter).

The new season of "90210" premiers Tuesday, September 13 at 8 PM on The CW.

"When CBS Television Studios sent us the script of Common Law, we immediately fell in love with the writing, the characters and the premise,” USA Network co-presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber said. "We're very lucky to have the Wibberleys, Jon and Craig guiding the process on this show; and with Michael and Warren, we have two stars who bring out the best in each other."

TVLine's Michael Ausiello and Nellie Andreeva report that "Glee" will have two new regulars next season - and one absence.

Both Darren Criss (Blaine) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) will be full-fledged series regulars come season 3.

On the other hand, the option for Chord Overstreet, who played McKinley transfer student Sam Evans on a recurring basis last season, has not been picked up. But Overstreed won't be gone forever, as he might re-appear in the occasional guest spot.
What do you think? Have the right guys been promoted? Or will you miss Chord?

Richard T. Jones Joins HAWAII FIVE-O, Taryn Manning To Return

Hello Folks

The cast of "Hawaii Five-O" keeps growing for its sophomore season.

The lastest addition is Richard T. Jones ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"), TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich reports today.

He will play the new Governor, after the current one, Pat Jameson (Jean Smart), was killed during the season finale. The man now moving into office was Lt. Governor to Jameson before that. He is said to keep a tighter leash on Five-O, and will clean up the mess Jameson left the position in.

Additionally, executive producer Peter Lenkov announced on Twitter that Taryn Manning would return in the coming season as Steve McGarrett's (Alex O'Loughlin) sister Mary Ann. It is unclear how many episodes the actress will be guesting on at this point, however.

And no, still no word about how Larisa Oleynik will figure into next season...
