Well, after Frank Darabont's Comic-Con appearance, we certainly didn't see this one coming...
Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reports that Darabont is stepping down as showrunner for AMC's zombie drama "The Walking Dead".
Word is that Darabont is completely leaving the show, which is currently in production for its second season. But there are apparently still talks happening to keep him on the show in some way, maybe as a consultant.
This is a surprising move because Darabont was just present at a Comcic-Con panel last Friday, and seemed "excited" about the new season.
The reason for this move is not clear, but speculation is that Darabont "never quite adjusted to the daily grind of producing a TV series".
The search for a replacement is underway.
