No TORCHWOOD For FOX
Hello Folks!
The Hollywood Reporter reports today that there won't be a U.S. version of "Torchwood", the BBC spinoff of long-running British series "Doctor Who" - at least not at FOX.
“BBC Worldwide Productions and the FOX Broadcasting Company have mutually agreed not to progress together with a 13-episode serialized 'Torchwood' format. We are currently in discussion with several interested networks," BBC Worldwide noted in a statement.
The possibility of a U.S. version of "Torchwood" is still "very much alive", and is making progress, according to BBC Worldwide programming and production vice president Jane Tranter.
As for a U.S. "Doctor Who", there's no chance of that happening. Tranter said: "It may well be confusing to have a British Doctor and an American Doctor at the same time. There is only one Doctor, so I don't see that happening."

BET Returns To THE GAME, HBO Renews TREME
Hello Folks!
I'm really glad it's a rather slow news week so far, because I won't be able to update much for another day or two.
Anyway, on to some good news.
BET has announced its upfront presentation. And the most interesting part about that press release is the fact that it has picked up canceled CW show "The Game" for another season. New episodes about the San Diego Sabres and their respective women will launch in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Additionally, HBO has renewed its post-hurricane Katrina drama "Treme" after just one episode.
HBO president Michael Lombardo explains to the Hollywood Reporter: "We would have picked up this show last week. We've seen the first nine episodes; it's as strong as any show we've seen. Much like 'The Wire,' the audience is so passionate and so invested. We're about servicing our subscriber base, and I believe that people will become addicted to this show. We have to be a place where this kind of excellence is given space to continue."

APRIL FOOLS: The CW Won't Move 90210 To Thursdays
Yeah, OK, this was all me. Happy April Fool's Day!
My apologies to The CW and Dawn Ostroff for making them look a little stupid... ;)
But the premiere date would certainly be a great idea, just for the season premiere. Thursdays are not so fierce this early in September.

The CW Moves 90210 To Thursdays Next Season - To Get A Certain Premiere Date
Hello Folks!
The CW has just announced via a press release that it will move its teen drama "90210" to Thursdays next year, where it will face its toughest competition yet.
The reason? The premiere date. The show, which has recently been renewed for a third season, will premiere on September 2. Get it? 9/02/10!
CW Entertainment president Dawn Ostroff acknowledges the risks of this move, but stands behind it. "We know that it's an incredibly competitive night, and really hope that "90210" will hold its own in that slot. But, from a marketing standpoint, it's simply an opportunity we can't miss."
What do you think? Is it a risk, or will "90210" show it really has potential on Thursday?
