SyFy Orders HAVEN To Series

Variety reports today that SyFy has picked up 13 episodes of "Haven", a supernatural thriller series very loosely based on the Stephen King novella "The Colorado Kid". (Which, coincidentally, I read just yesterday, and trust me: It's a completely different story).

The project centers on some cursed townsfolk in Haven, Maine, who live a normal life in exile. When strange things start to happen surrounding those curses, FBI agent Audrey Parker is sent to keep the supernatural forces at bay, and trying to solve the mysteries surrounding Haven.

Studio E1 is producing, with Scott Shepherd being tapped as showrunner. He is also exec producing together with Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller, all veterans of "The Dead Zone", another series based on a King novel.

Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn will write the pilot.

Ryan Devlin Heads To COUGAR TOWN

Also per the Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Devlin ("Veronica Mars") will be joining ABC comedy "Cougar Town" in recurring capacity.

He is set to play Smith, a new love interest for Laurie (Busy Philipps).

Pilot News: Two More Join PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, KEEP HOPE ALIVE Gets Three, More Pilot News

Hello Folks!

Looks like we're slowly getting towards pilot season again. Remember: My pilot news can only be found in this blog, not on the forums I also post my other stuff.

From the Hollywood Reporter:

- Martha Plimpton, Olesya Rulin and Lucas Neff have all been cast in FOX' comedy pilot "Keep Hope Alive".
The single-camera project centers on Jimmy (Neff) a man of 25 raising an infant with the help of his quirky family after the baby's mother, who had a one-night-stand with Jimmy, ends up on death row.

Plimpton plays Jimmy's mother, who had him at 16 and has had enough of babies. Rulin plays a smart waitress, of whom Jimmy thinks she's perfect to help raise his daughter.
Michael Fresco will direct the pilot.

- Troian Bellisario (daughter of producer Donald P. Bellisario) and Ian Harding have joined lead actress Lucy Kate Hale ("Privileged", "Bionic Woman") in the ABC Family pilot "Pretty Little Liars". The story revolves around four teenagers, Aria (Hale), Emily, Spencer (Bellisario) and Hanna, who all start to get very mysterious messages, apparently from their girlfriend who disappeared three years ago.

Hardin plays a recent college grad who becomes Aria's high school teacher and gets into a relationship with the teen.

- Scott Cohen and Stephanie Childers have landed roles in another ABC Family pilot. The untitled Michael Jacobs comedy project revolves around an architect (Cohen), out of a job, who starts mentoring his middle daughter. His wife (Childers), a veterinarian shares a stronger bond with their Type-A older daughter.

Joss Whedon Reacts To DOLLHOUSE Cancellation

Joss Whedon has posted the following reaction on Whedonesque:

I don't have a lot to say. I'm extremely proud of the people I've worked with: my star, my staff, my cast, my crew. I feel the show is getting better pretty much every week, and I think you'll agree in the coming months. I'm grateful that we got to put it on, and then come back and put it on again.

I'm off to pursue internet ventures/binge drinking. Possibly that relaxation thing I've read so much about. By the time the last episode airs, you'll know what my next project is. But for now there's a lot of work still to be done, and disappointment to bear.

Thank you all for your support, your patience, your excellent adverts. See you again. -j.

"Life UneXpected" will be aired in the current "Gossip Girl" timeslot of Monday night at 9 PM for its entire run.

As for "Gossip Girl", it will stay off the air during that time, and will then return for another 12 episodes. The reasoning behind this? "Gossip Girl" gets better ratings with fewer interruptions. That's why it's getting one big break, instead of many small ones.

ABC Cancels EASTWICK, But Orders Five More Episodes Of THE FORGOTTEN

Hello Folks!

I guess even magic couldn't save this one.

After constantly finishing last in its timeslot, ABC has effectively canceled its freshman drama "Eastwick" by deciding against ordering more episodes than the 13 already ordered and currently finishing production, the Hollywood Reporter reports today. The network plans to air all 13 episodes.

Meanwhile, another new drama on the Alphabet got luckier. The network has ordered five more episodes of the Jerry Bruckheimer series "The Forgotten", bringing the show's total to a current 18 for this season. Showrunner Luke Reiter, however, is not expected to stay with the show.

CBS Cuts Down NUMB3RS Order, But Orders More Episodes For Other Shows

Hello Folks!

The Hollywood Reporter reports that CBS has trimmed down the order for the current season of "Numb3rs" from 22 to 16.

"Numb3rs" as well as other CBS Friday fare have taken a ratings hit this fall. CBS insists no decision on "Numb3rs"' fate has been made, but the show is in its sixth season and pretty expensive to produce, so things are not looking good for a season seven at this point.
CBS has several midseason replacements handy, including another season of "Flashpoint" (currently airing on Canada's CTV), which has performed well for the Eye.

But on a happier note, per EW's Michael Ausiello, "How I Met Your Mother", "NCIS", "NCIS: LA", "CSI: Miami", and "Two and a Half Men" will have 24 episodes instead of only 22, and "Criminal Minds", CSI: NY", "The Big Bang Theory", "The Good Wife", "CSI", and "The Mentalist" will get one more episode, which brings them to a total of 23.

- Robert Wagner is joining the cast of "NCIS" for its 150th episode. He will be playing Tony DiNozzo's (Michael Weatherly) father.

- David Tennant, who can still be seen this year in four specials as "Doctor Who", has landed the lead in the upcoming NBC pilot "Rex Is Not A Lawyer", per the Hollywood Reporter.

"Ugly Betty SPOILER Alert!

- According to EW's Michael Ausiello, Fisher Stevens joins the cast of "Ugly Betty" in the potentially recurring role of Mr. Z, Betty's scarcastic new landlord.
