Some good news, and some bad news from the NBC front.
The Hollywood Reporter reports today that the Peacock has ordered six additional episodes for the third season of "Chuck".

No definite start date for the new season has been given yet, but with the additional episodes, a January launch is now rumored.
Less good news however comes from the front of "Trauma". NBC has decided not to give the show a back nine order, and end the show after its 13-episode run. Here's hoping that all of those 13 episodes make it on the air.

FOX Benches DOLLHOUSE, Other Originals For Sweeps
Hello Folks!
Uh-oh, this doesn't sound promising at all…
Even though FOX has recently scheduled "Dollhouse" for November sweeps, the network now decided to pull back from its earlier plan, and has benched the struggling Joss Whedon drama for the sweeps period, the Futon Critic reports.
Same goes for FOX' other Friday entries "Brothers" and "'Til Death". Repeats of "Bones" and "House" will take over the slots during the key ratings period.
"Dollhouse" returns December 4 with back-to-back episodes until it completes its current 13-episode run on December 18. "Brothers" moves to Sundays in December for back-to-back airings as well. As for "'Til Death", no return date has been given yet.
I think this is the moment when we have to accept the fact that "Dollhouse" might face a permanent shutdown. But to be honest, it was expected much sooner…

FOX Will Air All 13 Episodes of DOLLHOUSE
Hello Folks!
After the very satisfying DVR data for the second season premiere of "Dollhouse", FOX scheduling boss Preston Beckman confirmed that the network will air all currently ordered 13 episodes of the show, per the Hollywood Reporter.
Whether we would get to see those 13 episodes on TV was actively put in question after last Fridays abysmal rating numbers. But while Beckman admits that the numbers don't make the network brass happy, there's no need for overreaction. The show was brought back based on its DVR advantage in the first place, and FOX now hopes for increases in the overnight ratings during the coming weeks.
A decision about possibly ordering more episodes will be made after "Dollhouse"'s current run. Creator Joss Whedon said that the 13th episode would provide some closure if it turns out to be the series finale, but some doors would be left open to continue the story if more episodes are ordered.
What do you think? Are you glad you have confirmation that "Dollhouse" will stay on the air for now?

NBC Mulls Early CHUCK Launch
Hello Folks!
EW's Michael Ausiello reports today that after canceling "Southland", and pretty bad ratings for some of its freshman shows, NBC is currently discussing the possibility of bringing back "Chuck" for its third season much sooner.
According to Mike's moles, the show could return as early as late October. And if the ratings are solid, the show could get much more than the 13 episodes it currently has for the third year.
Whether "Chuck" would return on Mondays, or would get a new night, remains to be seen.
So, how happy does this news make you?

ABC Gives Full Seasons To COUGAR TOWN, MODERN FAMILY, THE MIDDLE; NBC Cancels SOUTHLAND
Hello Folks!
ABC has ordered up the back nine episode of its Wednesday comedy block of "Cougar Town", "Modern Family" and "The Middle", giving all three shows a full season. The order was confirmed by ABC's publicity department.
On the less positive front, the Hollywood Reporter reports that NBC has canceled its cop drama "Southland" two weeks befoe it was set to return. Production was shut down after six episodes.
The show had support from the network brass last season, and was renewed, despite a ratings decline during the freshman run. But after screening the new episodes, it was deemed too dark and gritty for the 9 PM slot of broadcast TV.
"Dateline NBC" will now continue its run in the slot, and producers are shopping the show to other networks.

NBC Reduces DAY ONE To Miniseries
Hello Folks!
Per the Hollywood Reporter, NBC has reduced the order for its midseason series "Day One".
The show about life on Earth after a global catastophe, will now only have its two-hour pilot plus two episodes.
NBC scripted boss Angela Bromstad said the network has repeatedly envisioned "Day One" as "a big event".
The option to run the show as a series next season after a successful run in the spring is still open, much like Syfy did with "Battlestar Galactica".
"Day One" stars Julie Gonzalo, David Lyons, Carly Pope, Adam Campbell, Thekla Reuten, Derek Mio, Addison Timlin and Catherine Dent.
Glad to see that a similar-themed show like "FlashForward" gets a limited run? Think it works better this way? Or did you look forward to much more than that?
