Pilot News: David Nutter To Direct EASTWICK Pilot, Ed O'Neill Joins AMERICAN FAMILY

Hello Folks!

OK, now that stars are beginning to get cast in all those pilots that got greenlit, I will resume the pilot coverage that I had to put on the backburner a bit because I had a very busy first month of the new year.

Variety reports today that David Nutter, the man who has a current 14/14 in picked-to-series pilots, has signed on to direct and executive produce "Eastwick", WB TV's series adaptation of the 1987 feature film for ABC.

Nutter directed the pilot of "The Mentalist" last year, and the year before was at the helm of the pilot for "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles", where he later also directed the second season's first episode.

Confirm here.

And the Hollywood Reporter reports that Ed O'Neill, best known of course as Al Bundy on "Married... With Children" has landed the male lead in ABC's half-hour pilot "An American Family", which centers on three families: one traditional, another that includes a 60-year-old man (O'Neill) who becomes a stepfather after tying the knot with a Latina (Sofia Vergara) who is 30 years younger than he is, and a third family, which consists of a gay couple (Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson) who have adopted a Vietnamese baby.

Confirm here.
